I wish every weekend could be as cool as anzac weekend. As I’ve previously mentioned, this weekend has already been sweet. Yesterday was real chill and last night there was a “United” night at church, which was great, followed by a prayer meeting that was rad and lasted two and a half hours. While at United night I was asked if I wanted to do any work today and I was like, “eh maybe.” Then I found out what the work was. I got paid $20 an hour today to read the bible. There is a new cd rom version of the NIV that’s coming out so I, with 9 of my friends, got paid to read the bible while my partner listened and made sure the new version wasn’t missing anything or vice versa. We got through a good chunk of Genesis, most of Leviticus(I had a girl partner so there were some funny moments in there. If you’re confused just direct your attention to Leviticus 15), all of Joshua and a tad of Deuteronomy. We worked from 9:00-4:00 so after taxes I will probably get paid $120. Even if I get hit by a bus or mugged or something this weekend has been so good that it wouldn’t drop the overall rating of this weekend too far down.

in my own little corner
April 25, 2008I just slept in an actual bedroom for the first time in 3 months, and it was amazing. For the last 3 months 4 of my roommates and I all just had mattresses on the floor in our main living area. Then last week one of the guys(Dillon) moved into the empty bedroom and then a couple days after that one of the other guys(Caleb) moved into the other bedroom that already had one guy(Kyle) in it. They were all rantin’ and ravin’ about how great it was so yesterday I decided to move into the room with Dillon. I slept so good. I have not been able to sleep past 9:00 straight through since I’ve been here, but I just slept until 10. This room is working wonders. Yesterday I bought some stuff for my room that I am excited about. I got a 1/4″ to 1/8″ adapter so I can plug my bass and guitar into my computer and henceforth record higher qual. The best part though is this.
It was only three bucks and it makes our whole flat smell great. I have grape fruit scented oil in it and it is so good. So far I was right about the quality of this weekend. Dodge ball was pretty rad last night. It was rainy so there weren’t as many people but it was intense. Dodge ball is like 10% skill and 90% trash talk, which makes me pretty decent.
I’m going to go make another attempt at making egg sandwiches as good as my mom makes them. How does she do it?

the line up
April 24, 2008Tonight and the next couple of days should be nice and rad. Thursday nights are always fun because like 50 guys(and two girls) play dodge ball. It’s awesome. Last week I got hit in the face real hard……but I hit someone in the throat, so it was sweet. This weekend is “anzac” weekend, which is some sort of rip off of America’s veteran’s day. Because of that we have school off tomorrow so I get to sleep in and also because of the anzac’s there’s no service where I usually serve on Friday nights. That’s two full days in a row off and it’s going to be awesome. It has rained for the last 8 days on and off, but I’m sure the anzac’s will make the weather nice for their special weekend.

big bigote
April 22, 2008My upper lip has not felt the tingle of a shave for three weeks and one day. People now notice my mustache and say, “are you growing a mustache?” I feel great, I look great and people are respecting me like they never have before. I thought having a mustache would make me want to do more manly stuff, but it turns out it just makes you really good at manly stuff; which in a way makes me want to do more of the manly things because I’m so good at them now. Being cocky for example. I’m much better at being cocky with my mustache. I think girls must love it too because whenever I talk to a girl now, they can never take their eyes off my stache and they’re always making these crazy faces when they look at it. Faces that tell me, “WOW! I could stare at that for hours and never stop finding new cool things about it. Look! A random black hair amongst all the other red ones. And there’s a really long one.” I just stand there with my left eyebrow slightly higher than my right and talk really expressively with my whole mouth, making all the tough, bristley hairs dance. Enough talk. This picture’s worth 2,000 words.

The heart of life
April 19, 2008there are some songs/song writers that are so good they make me so filled with emotion of all sorts. The best kind are ones that don’t only sound amazing but have awesome memories attached to them. It’s real bizarre sometimes. I’ll be listening to itunes on shuffle and then a song will come back and all these memories come shooting at me. Sometimes they bring back sucky memories but for the most part it’s just awesome. The biggest ones for me are:
Feist-the reminder-september-december 07
John Mayer-Continuum-Driving to and from estes park for Ladies Advance 07
Philmore-The Bare Truth About Philmore-Manzanillo
Starting Line-Make Yourself at home-Scottsdale
The Early November-The Room’s too cold-9th grade
This Providence-This Providence-Dallas
Norma Jean-Redeemer-12th grade
Yann Tiersen-Les Retrouvailles-KB
Mew-And the glass handed Kites-Scottsdale
As Cities Burn-Son I loved you at your darkest-Summer Internship
Dabney Morris-Songs from a broken violin-Florida
The list could go on. This was the funnest post to write of all time. I don’t even care if anyone ever reads it because it made me happy. If you did read it and there’s a song or an album that reminds you of me, you should tell me.
Good night

Isaiah 35:8
April 13, 2008And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness.
The unclean will not journey on it;
it will be for those who walk in that Way;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
-The unclean will not journey on it and the wicked fools will not go about on it, not because they aren’t allowed to, but because they chose to be unclean and wicked. If they wanted they could journey on it, but they keep being stupid. I’m pretty sure that highway goes to some pretty cool places, so count me in. Oh the epiphany.
